Outlook Magazine

What is Outlook Magazine???

Outlook Magazine was the periodical published by the Mountain View Center:

All issues of OUTLOOK (with the exception of issue 16) can be accessed here:  OUTLOOK MAGAZINES

They are in one folder, with filenames corresponding to their issue number, season and year.  All articles published in OUTLOOK that are not currently under copyright are available.

View the Cumulative Subject Index to search by topic Additionally, we have selected articles for our Editor’s Choice series.  Find brief descriptions, and links to these articles.

ENJOY!

"Let's have a periodical in which we can print or reprint things we want to share with our friends, and things they may want to share with us and each other." We gather some material, choose a title, put our heads together to compile a mailing list - and as a result you now have the first issue of OUTLOOK.

To get past the beginning, to issues 2, 3, 4, and N, is going to require
contributions, not of money but of material, from those who read this issue.

We would like OUTLOOK to appear three times a year, in the autumn, winter and spring. We want it to be a meeting place for ideas, reflections, notes, working papers, anecdotes, case histories - and more. The only common element among the contributions need be that they bring to the attention of others toiling in the same vineyards materials which may provoke thought, action, rebuttal or even a good laugh. In other words, we hope that OUTLOOK will be written not only by the members of the staff of the Mountain View Center (who are, perhaps, somewhat over-represented in this first issue) but by others who are asking serious questions about education and learning:

"What is wrong with schools? What is right? What can be done? What is good teaching? What is good learning? What are children like? What is a good teacher? What do good teachers need to continue their self-education? What kinds of support can help good teachers? Etc."
from Issue No. 1, Winter, 1970
